That's a little strange. I've been using newsgroups since 1988 and I
seldom saw examples of bad style then (IIRC, perhaps my memories are

Yes, that happens here too. But only if the subject under discussion
evolves into something different. Then I usually use a subject like
"New subject (was: Old subject)"

Somewhere on the net I've seen a list of what is considered good
style and why that is so. Alas I don't remember where it was. And then
(as you've noticed) other places have other ideas on how to do things.

On the other hand, that good style is usually common sense (if you
think about it for a while), such as not top-posting and not changing
the subject line willy-nilly.
