I see the same thing on my Windows 2000 system (problem confirmed). Setting LFN=n does not fix it. So far testing has shown XP to behave almost exactly bug for bug identical to Windows 2000 and completely differently than the Win 9x family. I'll add it to my (long) list of things to look at. Thanks for continuing to look into this.
