I wasn't disagreeing with the flexibility of EMACS, only with the
blanket statement that DOS can not show the Latin-1 codepage.

Actually they do work if the DOS box is in full screen mode.

I agree with this. but for anyone who wants to take the time, plain
DOS can be set to use codepages equivalent to ISO 8859-[1-5,7,9,10].
I didn't mean to imply that this was a solution for the average user,
nor that it should be incorporated into DJGPP packages.
