CBFalconer wrote: [zip files seem to be incorrectly unzipped] Ok, I see clear now. What I did was this: I downloaded the archives drom the djgpp page and unzipped them on my linux box, on a reiserfs partition, with long filenames. Then I copied the (unzipped) files to a bunch of floppy disks that were formatted fat16. So I figure that the fat16 driver mistruncated the filenames, and actually it's the linux kernel that is to blame. I did it that way because the only way to get things into the actual destination machine is via 1.44MB floppy disk. I can't do a thing about this. And since some of the zip files are bigger than 1.44MB I unzipped them to get smaller chunks. So all I need to do is to find an unzipper that truncates correctly, even when the filesystem allows LFN, or find a program that truncates what I have unzipped in linux to 8.3. Thank you so far, Dirk
