Dear all,

I have recently down loaded the djgpp compiler as a beginner to learn =
some c++ (Engineers are only taught Fortran - so much for moving with =
the times). When I compile (using RHIDE or from the DOS command line) =
to works fine (or seems to) but when I try to link and create and =
executable file is fires a 'Rename ------ ------ failed'. It seems that =
gxx creates an executable code named ????.001 which then gets renamed =
????.exe. You would think that this would be an access problem, but the =
file is not write protected. When I manually (at the DOS prompt) rename =
the executable file from ???.001 to ???.exe it renames it fine, and the =
code executes OK.

The problem also extends other files. I tried to install the Allegro =
library, and the same error seems to occur, and it jumps out of the =
installation.

I've several Gigs of free disk space, no other Apps are running. I'm =
using Windows ME.

Can anyone help me? If I'm asking a stupid question (or the wrong =
people), my appologies. I've followed the installation instructions, =
and this problems doesn't seem to be under the FAQ's.

Many thanks for your time,

Mark
