Please don't report errors this vaguely. We can do nothing with "or
something" --- we need the actuall error message, and at the very
least the source line that it refers to.

But I have an idea what it may be: you were writing something like

	functiona ()   = equal;

this is almost certainly wrong, even in C++. Make that

	equal = function()
