use:

gxx -o a.exe a.cpp

or 

gpp -o a.exe a.cpp


gcc is for compiling C programs.

Also, while your code will compile, it's seems like it's more in vogue
to do it like this:

#include <iostream>
using namespace std;

int main (void)
{
	cout << "My first C++ program\n\n";
	return 0;
}
