"Undefined references" -- That sounds like a linker error, did you forget to
link against the OpenGL library?

"Didn't seem to work" and "just doesn't work" -- Not enough info. Sorry,
can't help you with this aspect of your situation.
You might take a look at section 2 of the OpenGL FAQ, hope that helps.
