Not true. Make only calls COMMAND.COM if it sees some batch file or a built-in COMMAND.COM command, or if it doesn't find the command anywhere along PATH. Otherwise, Make uses its own internal emulator of COMMAND.COM which doesn't suffer from command-line limitations when DJGPP programs are invoked. (Actually, Make simply calls `system' from the library, and `system' is the one which has a COMMAND.COM emulator.)
