Does it ``disappear'' as in ``silently exit', or does it crash with
some message? The difference is important.

If this only happens when you press and hold an arrow key, try
lowering the keyboard autorepeat rate (via Control Panel).

FWIW, I never see this neither on plain DOS nor on Windows 95 or
Windows 98. IIRC, this is the first time I hear about such a problem
on any platform.
In any case, NT4 is not a very good platform to run DJGPP programs in
general, see section 3.3 of the FAQ for the gory details.
