1. I'm recommending the software to my client, but
http://www.fsf.org/order/order.html indicates "NOTE: OUT OF STOCK until
new edition is prepared".
2. Questions I need to answer before client adopts the software:
a. Which operating sytems are supported?
b. What are the features/ limitations of the package and its
components on supported operating systems?
c. Will it allow long filenames?
d. Will it allow long command lines?
3. I antipated that I can find the answers to the above questions if I
could find the following documents, and hoped someone had a URL for
them:
a. Release notes for Edition 1.0 (Find "release" only yields
D:\gnu\bash1147\RELEASE).
b. Release notes for Edition 1.0 Revised.
c. Anitipated bug fix/ feature list for Edition 2.
4. I own one copy of the software. My CD says "CD-ROM Edition 1, June
1998". I assume this is Edition 1.0. I would like to obtain the other
edition (1.0 Revised?) until Edition 2 is out. Does anybody know where
I can buy it? Windows doesn't seem to be able to copy the CD (chokes
on filenames that differ only by case), so I assume a Linux box is
needed to produce duplicates (?).
TIA,
David
