Problem sorted!

Turns out the problem was with the version of RHIDE I was using. It would
seem that the version shipped with DJGPP does not handle directories at all
well! - I download 1.4.7 (beta) and the problem went away!

Why am I replying to my own message?

I figured that it may help someone as this problem does not make any sense
until you realise that it is a bug in the IDE! - I must confess, it is
mentioned in the FAQ but it's listed under a completely different heading -
so I did not find it first time around. Ho-hum ;-)
