Hello. Edmund Horner wrote: > Where does DJGPP go in the future? (I guess that it will continue to > follow the direction of gcc, such as support for more languages. But > what else?) A quick look at the changelog in DJGPP CVS, I see that post-2.03 changes include: * Support for FAT32 drives; * Better compatibility with GCC built-ins; * Symlink support; * Bugfixes. A lot of work is going into making DJGPP work with the upcoming gcc 3.0. > Will DJGPP become too tied to ye olde DOS to remain of use? Why would you want to use DJGPP on anything other than DOS? For Windows there's Cygwin, although DJGPP also works pretty well on Windows '9x. I haven't used it much under Windows NT, but I guess it works better now there's a good LFN driver for NT. Some of the libraries for DJGPP are available for other platforms, so DJGPP is going to be useful for a while, with its source-level portability. > What is there for non-contributors like myself to do to participate? I guess you could help test out the pre-release versions of ports, e.g. Mark E's port of bash 2.04: http://members.xoom.com/snowball3/djgpp/ This is in beta right now.
