I *think* this may becaused by the fact that you set some variables to
1 when a key is pressed but don't make it something else (eg 0) when
the key isn't pressed. In effect, the values of your variables are
undefined.
As a rule of dumb: *always* set your variables to a known value at the
start of a function or loop so that you know what value they should
have.

Nah. Works fine for me, although screen updates are notably slower
than in lower resolutions.
