I'm not sure I understand what you're trying to do here. I don't know
why you want to create word files, but I'd suggest something easier
(and perhaps more portable).

Well, if you really have no idea how to do this, it's probably going
to take you a long time to figure out how to do what you want to do,
only to think of a better way to do it a few days later. IMO, this is
the way to learn programming (I did, sortoff), so based on this, I'd
say it's ideal ;-)
However, you might want to start off with something a little easier.
Most books on (C) programming offer excercises. You might want to take
a look at those.
