Thank's a lot Hans-Bernhard, for that tip, it will save a lot of my time.

Strangely enough I have not come across this library, or more likely I
have overlooked it (come to think of it I think I may have seen the
-liberty option when compiling some packages, but I am not sure), anyway
I'm sure a search at fsf.org would do the needful.
