I don't really know what's going wrong with those BIOS serial I/O service
functions. I seem don't have enough info about them because all the tech
docs I have right here (RB Int List, Tech Help and Help PC plus some books)
has pretty short descriptions so that I'm unable to figure out actual
problem. Perhaps BIOS code is just faulty for those funcitons or they're not
supported by some reason.

Nope. Serial I/O hardware supports particular baud rates independantly of
computer itself and they always use standard signal scheme. Btw, almost the
same program (SERIALCHAT) worked fine for me as a terminal program on
connected 386sx16 and P266 computers.
