And to run on _lots_ of different hardware and software
configurations:
o DOS
o Windows 9x's DOS emulation
o Windows 9x DirectX
o Windows NT DirectX
o Linux fbcon, GGI, svgalib
o X Window System running on Linux, *BSD, and UNIX systems with
several different instruction sets
The x86 version is the most optimized, of course.
I'm not a framerate wh0re; I'd give up a couple fps (not too many,
mind you) for portability and freedom.
