Hi, 

the env-var LASTDRIVE does not work, it is set to z,
because my zip100 is on x:, the zip250 on y: and my cd-rom on z:

So I have never trouble with drive letters...

Harddisks can be from c: to l: and Network-drives from m: to w:

Linux rebootet man in drei Fällen: 
Neuer Kernel, neue (Board-)Hardware, Stromausfall....

Aber Windows rebootet man auch in drei Fällen: 
Schutzverletzung, Bluescreen, keinen Bock...
