I suggest that you run a disk cache (smartdrv) with write caching
enabled.
for example if you want to setup a 8mb smartdrv the command would be
"smartdrv 8000 c+" without the quotes.
Another fast way would be to setup a RAMDISK.
Section 7 of the DJGPP FAQ has more about slow compilation and linking
issues.
BTW The FAQ also has information about the optimal setup for machines with
vairous memory and CPU setups too..
