I discovered a bug in Tar 1.12a: numerical backups didn't work on non-LFN 
filesystems.  A corrected distribution was uploaded to SimTel.NET; if you 
work on plain DOS, it is recommended to install the new binaries.

LFN operation did not suffer from this bug, and is unaffected by the 
change.
