You mean HDs as well? The problem with floppies is, IMHO, that their timings
are dependent on the system timer. I don't think HDs are as stupid as that.
But maybe they were some years ago.
I often used a (very stupid) program that would reprogram the timer,
accumulate some data, write them to disk and then set the timer back. Never
did any harm.
