IMHO, this is like being too general. I stay in SE asia, too, and I
agree that there's a some amount of piracy stuff. But it's everyhere. I
don't believe piracy can wipe out GNU. And btw, for $2, I get Linux +
DJGPP + lots of stuff from the CDROM I get with my local magazine. Isn't
that safer and *better* than anything else?

I wouldn't take any risks of using pirated stuff. Even my old Win 95 is
licensed.
