GCC from delorie.com or GCC from mingw.org?  (I assume the former.)
Is it related to that "McAfee mouse freeze" problem? (Every time a
DJGPP app is accessed, McAfee freezes the mouse for one second to scan
the program for viruses.)

WINE also runs some DOS programs.
