Allegro works with quite a few C++ development systems:
  Watcom C++
  DJGPP
  RSXNTDJ (DJGPP + Win32 support)
  Borland C++Builder
  Microsoft Visual C++
  Mingw32 (Win32 GCC that uses MSVC's libc)
  GCC for Linux
  (coming very soon) Solaris and BeOS

DJGPP is a C/C++ development system for DOS.  It contains GCC, a
compiler (part of GNU) that compiles C and C++ code that runs in
32-bit protected mode on an Intel 386.  DJGPP also contains a libc and
a C runtime that get the system into protected mode and shell out to
real mode to call DOS.
