I tried both the BSD qsort and the K.B. Williams qsort over the weekend, with the
array containing many duplicate values, and a little random noise added to the
comparison function.  This produced array overflows with the BSD qsort, but the K.B.
Williams version behaved just fine.  Thus, the problem the original poster had must
have been due to something else.
