This is to announce that the DJGPP port of version 4.0 of the GNU
Texinfo package is available from SimTel.NET mirrors worldwide:

Texinfo is a package for writing documentation, with tools to produce the
on-line and printed docs in several formats. Most GNU packages come with
their docs written and produced by Texinfo programs. The docs written as
part of the DJGPP project also use Texinfo.
The most significant user-level change in this release is that makeinfo
can now generate HTML as well as Info format. The Info browser now
accepts the --usage option which jumps directly to the section that
describes the command-line options (like the man pages do). The
install-info utility was expanded and many bugs in it fixed.
Other important changes include (see the file NEWS for the full list):
- new commands and features of the Texinfo language(*);
- much improved generation of plain-ASCII files by makeinfo(*);
- many new commands in the Info browser;
- the Info browser supports vi/Less-like keybindings;
- better support for non-ASCII characters in the docs.
(*) These features are required for producing the upcoming version 2.30
of the FAQ, so if you want to tinker with faq230s.zip, you will need
Texinfo 4.0.
This DJGPP port includes a small number of bugfixes done after the
official GNU release (they were all reported to the Texinfo maintainer).
Please direct any further discussions about this port to
comp.os.msdos.djgpp news group (or write to its e-mail gateway
djgpp AT delorie DOT com).
