Hello!
I'm writing a software project for my term paper, it's a DBMS for managing user information in the school computer labs. I chose to write the thing using Visual Foxpro 6.0. The systems in our school run in Windoze and VFP60 was the obvious choice for the project. Not that it was the best choice, mind you, could have written the thing using DJGPP + RSXNT but I didn't have the time to develop the modules for the DBMS part. I only have six months to finish the project and I'm already in the fourth month. Anyway, I am planning to release the project as GPL covered software, but I have a problem and it's confusing the heck out of me. What parts of the project should I put under the GPL? Obviously, the project files and the source code are mine, but they are in Foxpro project files, which I think is proprietary. This gets very complicated and confusing that I can't find the words to describe this problem clearly. But basically, the thought is: Can I use GPL for VFP60 (and other projects I develop for Windoze)? If so, are there any limitations that I must consider? If not, then why not?
I've already written to the FSF about this problem, but they haven't responded for 2 weeks. I figure that they're to busy doing important stuff. Any comments are welcome. (Even in legalese because I understand some)
Thanking you in advance
