That's because the linker itself does not understand '-pg'. It's the
linking step of gcc that need this flag, and so it's up to RHIDE
to pass it. 

If memory serves, the necessary setting is on the 'libraries' page.
A checkbox 'link for profiling', or so. Go figure.
