Windows provides interrupts for all that - including a buggy one to change the title & subtitle in the DOS window. It's used by command.com, for instance. Check the Interrupt List: http://www.ctyme.com/rbrown.htm I have tiny Turbo Pascal (16 bit) sources for it.
