yup, you were right, unfortunately i figured it out long before reading your
post. i had already dloaded a few batches of corrupt zips, and when they
finally all opened without error, i assumed i had all the files. well, you
know what they say about assuming! turns out the key executables were
missing, namely gcc and gxx! with a little more patience, i got everything
going correctly. thanks very much for your help!
