This problem was fixed in Allegro 3.12. I would recommend using the current WIP (version 3.925); it also supports Linux and Win32 to some extent. Perhaps, if c.o.m.d readers would like it, I could make up a MFAQ (most frequently asked questions) list and put it on my web site.
