I don't think this is possible from a DOS program (although stranger things
have been accomplished).

If you just want straight access to a networked computer that you know the
name of, you could probably try opening a file or directory in your program
with the \\ style Windows network locator.
Try this (note: untested):
FILE *f = fopen("\\\\somemachine\\c\\test.txt", "r");
