Wouldn't it be easier to just copy the data from DOS memory into a
protected-memory buffer with movedata(), then just work on the buffer?
The amount of protection faults my crappy programming generates, I
wouldn't want to take any chances needlessly.

This is all in the FAQ, there are 3 main methods of accessing DOS
memory, and movedata() is safest and easiest, though a bit slow cos of
the copying.
