There is a long discussion in the info files on this topic under C++/gnu
extensions. Brief summary,
your header file should include the line

#pragma interface

and your implementation should contain the line

#pragma implementation

and you should compile with -fexternal-templates.  There are other issues
and solutions that you
probably want to read about.
