Hi,
I'd just like to announce version 3.0 of my Game Animentration!.....the
reason I'm announcing this is because it is the first project in which I am
making use of my new Universal Installation Program. I am looking for as
much feedback as I can get on this program, as I will be releasing it here
shortly (I just have to write some documentation on how to build setup
packages for it). What this setup program does is use settings defined in
the cfg file to uncompress files into a path chosen by the user. The
package is very much customizable: you can change the images used for the
background, GUI windows, and buttons, as well as providing a logo for
display. The package has the ability to search for installed components,
and also has the added feature of requiring a certain filename to be found
for installation to continue (This was necessary for my game Animentration!
as I have some Addon files that are installed separately, and so the game
would have to be installed in order for installation of the Addon..),
multiple WGC compressd files can be uncompressed, and you can specify a list
of programs that should be run after file extraction (for instance, Sound
Configuration programs). The package will include the WGC compressor, which
takes a list of files to be included in distributions and compresses them
into a single file.
I would appreciate any feedback you folks can give me, and I hope this
package can be useful to many others. I primarily wrote because I wanted
something I could use for all of my projects, but I also put a lot of effort
into making it something that everyone can use.
The Animentration! Home page is listed in my signature for all interested.
Thanks for your time,
Marvin G Wise Jr
