Hello,
first of all I want to say that I'm very sattisfied with the DJGPP-compiler.
But now I'm afraid I've done something wrong, but I don't know what.
I've downloaded DJGPP comletely (with all extentions). I wanted to put
some add-ons to my perfectly running DJGPP (basic C/C++/ASM
with RHIDE). It turned out to be a mistake.
After unipping all files to my DJGPP directory (overwriting only older
files) an setting everything, everything seemed fine. But after I had
started RHIDE (enter and immediately exit) my floppy drive was
unaccessable. When "dir a:\." I saw a part of my harddisk. Deleting
the entire DJGPP directory and re-installing it didn't help either.
"Sector 0 not found." or "Sector not found." was the result. The
floppydrive led didn't light up when trying to access it. Obviously a
result from starting RHIDE as the drive works OK before starting
RHIDE and after rebooting. In the dosshell of RHIDE the floppydrive
already isn't accessible.
Now I've re-downloaded all files twice (once the minimal installation
and once I might want to have). I watched especially that I selected
"MSDOS, Opendos, ..". Installing this version didn't help either.
I've tried RHIDE and it works just fine, just after opening I can't
open an other project ("There was an error." or someting like that).
But everything that need (just compile, link, and easily open&edit
files) works just fine. Running a created executable works also.
Can you give me help or an indication what the problem is?
Should I use Emm386.exe, Himem.sys to solve the problem or
just one .. none? I've tried some combinations but never without
himem.sys.
Should I remove the line DOS=HIGH, UMB from config.sys?
I expect the problem to be there.
Thanks in advance,
Christian Wackers
