Good guess (hehehe). I thought that since issuing gxx from DOS prompt
works, it should also work if Rhide could somehow execute gxx for me. Is
there a way to do this (to ask my original question again)?

Been there, tried that. The problem was, that after modifying the env file,
I was not able to save it. An error message claimed that it was a read-only
file. So much for that. But.... for those of you who are having similar
trouble:
I found another copy of djgpp.env hidden deep inside DJGPP\GNU\gcc-2.81.
Inspecting this file revealed that it had the appropriate line added in it
already. I copied it over to DJGPP directory and things have never been
better :).
Isn't it amazing how much one can accomplish by just trying things without
really understanding them?
Thanks for your help Kagenin. (This is meant sincerely).
cheers
