Actually, it's weirder than that. Internet Exploder chugs for a minute,
displays part of the directory on the site, and then hangs. (No, it's not
just slow, it's HUNG, the stop and other toolbar buttons don't work.)
My real FTP client seems to have no trouble with it, speedwise or with
hanging.
I just wish IE let you set it up so ftp urls opened in another app. IE 3.x
and below let you configure MIME types and extensions with apps from the
Options dialog... with IE 4, it seems to be hard wired to use just IE and
plugins. The exception is mail and news. It lets you configure that for
some reason.
