The only reason to re-install the C++ libraries is because some of the files in them are longer than eight characters. If you were previously running in an LFN=N environment, you probably have the short file named files installed. If you re-install with LFN=Y, you'll have the long file names. If you read the FAQ, it has instructions for making sure you install it such that it will work with both LFN=N and LFN=Y.
