I was getting the same errors as you.  I sucessfully compiled the lib with
the demo programs using the supplied makefile.

If you are using RHIDE, make sure you specify amp _before_ alleg in the
Options->Libraries window.  

After that, my program compiled fine and was able to play mp3 files.
