OK, I've downloaded patch v2.5 and it works. 
Still I'd like to know if anyone else has had this problem with gnu patch
v2.1, if so, we should put a warning in the allegro FAQ, or so...
Else it's just me with an old dos patch that came from nowhere, and has
disappeared into the void again. :>
