This was recently discussed on the Allegro Mailing List. I think the answer
was yes, it's called BCD. And if I remember correctly, there's a link to it
at http://www.rt66.com/~brennan/djgpp/

I'm not sure if it requires Allegro to play back, but I don't think so.
