Hmm. well for dos stuff, use djgpp (http://www.delorie.com/djgpp) if you want
to code in windows without c++, try lcc-win32(http://www.cs.virginia.edu/~lcc-
win32/) if you want both c and c++ try gnu-win32
(http://www.cygnus.com/misc/gnu-win32/)
You don't have to lean towards microsoft for good compilers!. Personally I
think you should try lcc-win32 first, because it is way smaller and faster
then gnu-win32. I think gnu-win32 has a better optimizer (based on gcc
2.8.1) but is a little harder to use.
