Three problems with the way you're doing this:
1. use << with cout, not >>
2. instead of gcc proggy.cpp -o proggy.exe,
use either gcc proggy.cpp -o proggy.exe -lstdcxx
or gxx proggy.cpp -o proggy.exe
3. make sure the environment variable LFN is set to 1.
