How do you expect a FAQ coming into existence? If it hadn't ben Eli there
would be another one but SOMEBODY had to compile the information so that
people don't have to learn all by themselve. Given the time that it takes to
read a FAQ compared to the time it takes to work out the knowledge it contains
(even on "simple" questions) you are far better off with reading that
"oversized" thing. Also you are usually faster with reading the FAQ than
posting to a ng (unless you are lucky and get an immediate answer). Usually it
takes me at least half a day to get an answer at all. In that time I can read
the FAQ a few hundred times if need be.
