I hate to kinda answer my own question but in doing a little research I came up with a possible solution. If you have two bitmaps, one representing the background, and the other just a simple black and white image containing lines outlinging the objects ( this can easliy be created in Photoshop for example ). Then you check the character position to this non-displayed bitmap and if he's trying to move into or through a line then he can't. Thanks for the ideas and if anyone has anything better feel free to share!! ~Ethan Ethan Giordano wrote in message <6lq14s$3sb$1 AT news DOT cybernex DOT net>... >i asked this on rec.games.programmer but didn't quite find what i was >looking for....i wanted to know is anyonw had any ideas about the theory >behind how the collision detection between the world and the character in >the king's quest games can be accomplished. thanx. > >~Ethan > >
