I just installed the djgpp (281b) using the instructions from the html at
www.delorie.com (zip-picker.cgi). I get the error:
info.exe dir: No such file or directory (ENOENT)
when trying to run info. The only way I can get info to run is to specify an
info file on the command line (--file ...). The last time I installed djgpp
was version 2721b (12/96), and don't remember having this problem then.
The 'zip-picker' file said to point the DJGPP environment var to
C:\DJGPP\DJGPP.ENV. I found this file at D:\djgpp\GNU\GCC-2.81, so I copied
it to D:\DJGPP (my base directory).
Doesn't seem to matter whether I'm in a dos box or at dos (7).
I'm doing all this to take a look at the MGUI package (mgdos197) which runs
under djgpp, (along with others). I've written apps in Delphi, and it seems
very sensable. But even with many attempts, I can't seem to understand Turbo
Vison's take on GUI's. For example, the way lists are made with linked lists
created on the fly with nested function calls. After all is said and done,
I need to find a GUI package for DOS (or write my own scaled down version -
EEEEK!).
Results from SET:
TMP=C:\WINDOWS\TEMP
TEMP=C:\WINDOWS\TEMP
PROMPT=$p$g
winbootdir=C:\WINDOWS
COMSPEC=C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND.COM
PATH=C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND;D:\DJGPP\BIN
DJGPP=d:\djgpp\djgpp.env
windir=C:\WINDOWS
Thanks for your help or comments.
