My objective is to use a PCMCIA SCSI Card to backup my Inspiron 3200
onto my
JAZ drive. If I ever had a system meltdown, I would like to be able to
easily copy the
JAZ backup copy back to my laptop. I would be back in business without
having to
reinstall Win95 and all my other programs and data.
I had already purchased the Adaptec SlimSCSI 1480A CardBus UltraSCSI
card
when I received advice to purchase the 16-bit SlimSCSI card. I
successfully backed
up my hard drive onto one of my Jaz disks with the 32-bit card. However,
I have not
yet constructed a boot disk that will recognize the Cardbus 32-bit SCSI
card,
reformat the hard drive and copy the JAZ backup back to the laptop.
People have
told me that it cannot be done because DOS is a 16 bit operating system,
and a
16-bit operating system cannot recognize or communicate with a 32-bit
card.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Jeff.
