If you're asking about the C++ libraries, they don't do anything but allow you
to program in C++. They have no effect on your ability to program in C. The
only problems I can foresee is if you name functions or variables with C++
reserved words since you'll get warning (maybe error) messages. I can't say for
certain since I never use reserved words like that.

That all depends on what you mean by, "haven't been able to get the datafiles to
work." You'll need to be specific on what your problem is.
